My RV

The Maiden Voyage

DAY III (final day)

Mark it down, the first day i used the porta potti. I had refrained from using it! There is just something about peeing in the kitchen! The kids won't use it yet. They just look at it like it is something from outer space.

We had a champions breakfast of pancakes topped with peanut butter and loads of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup. We started tearing everything down to get ready to leave. I still had one more task that i wasn't sure of... emptying the porta potti. We loaded everything in, hitched up and proceeded to the dump station. We had to wait in line and i took the opportunity to watch others empty their toilets thinking i would get a few pointers. The only thing i got was a stark reminder that i should have got my yellow gloves out. They were not accessible so i would have to just do it. It was our turn and luckily we were the last in line - i didn't want anyone watching me. I took the bottom half of the potti over to the concrete pad and began to unscrew the lid. I just thought i had read all of the instructions. The cap spun off, blue dye and ... came out turning my hand blue. We needed a camera. The whole family was laughing at me! The instructions clearly state that i should set the base on the ground, unscrew the lid, pop the vent and then begin tilting the base towards the drain. Everythings ok now, i washed.

Finally, we have arrived back at home and begun cleaning the camper.

To all new campers: In summary, camping is great and it is truely livin!

  1. There is a whole lot to learn and alot of it will be learned by just doing it.
  2. If you want to level your camper side to side, use some wooden blocks that you have modified to step up. Use the Lynx Levelers as stabilizer pads.
  3. Use your gas furnace when the temperature is in the 20's.
  4. Get some stick-on levels.
  5. Get the Pop-Up 101 video.
  6. Build a fire. There is nothing like a big fire.
  7. Take your camera. You will catch alot of smiles!
