Warriors Path State Park Site #A6 (on the hill) - Kingsport, TN

DAY II

David and JessT was up first and she went outside to get the dog food. She wasn't sure where it was, so she checked the back of the Blazer... it wasn't there, she looked around outside... it wasn't there. Finally, she woke me up and asked where the dog food was. I told her it was laying just outside the door, in a white plastic grocery bag. She chuckled and said "No, it isn't! The bag is here, but it is empty." There were footprints on the cooler too. Those racoons didn't cover their tracks very well.

I could not believe it! The dog food was gone - container and all! My daughter rushed out of the camper and headed down the hill to look for it. We never found it.

We planned a fun day just hanging out around the park. We went to the basketball goal, swings and road the paddle boats. Everyone got a little sunburn, but it was a great time!

When we got back to the camper, i asked the kids if they wanted to hike the Lake Shore trail. My daughter did and set off. The Lake Shore trail meanders around the water and i thought we would just hike back up the hill to our campsite.

Starting off, she took the lead... it is hard keeping up with a 6 year old! Occasionally, i would stop and point out a few fish or something so i could get a break. After hiking for 30 minutes or so, we came to the area where our camper should have been. So we called mom on the walkie talkie and i said "We are lost!" All the while, my daughter is yelling, we are not lost in the background. T thought i was kidding and she thought we were going to wet her as soon as she walked out of the camper. After a little coaxing, she came to the edge of the hill. We yelled, she said we were close, but she could not see us. My daughter was ready to turn around and walk back the way we came (we were lost, you know) and i finally convinced her that we needed to just climb the hill. This hill was overgrown with brush, downed trees and everything. I am out of shape! On the way up, we found this old Mountain Dew bottle. We added that to our collection of bottle caps. When we topped the hill, we were quite a ways past our campsite, but we were not lost!

We called and invited the in-laws over for burgers. After everyone left, i proceeded to burn every piece of wood i could find. It was a wonderful fire!
